ICSA produces ground breaking business research report

A business research report commissioned by ICSA explores the invisible but integral role of the Company Secretary

ICSA (Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators) worked with Professors Andrew and Nada Kakabadse to produce a lengthy and insightful business research report. Andrew, Professor of Governance and Leadership at Henley Business School, presented the report to ICSA members on 2 July.

The research team delved into the often misunderstood position of the Company Secretary and produced a report which highlighted the vital importance of the role for an effective board and looked at common issues that company secretaries deal with on a daily basis. This incredibly important role requires sophisticated people skills, conflict resolution skill, and broad knowledge of the company, its processes, and its staff. In fact the Company Secretary is often the most knowledgeable and long standing board member, who is relied upon for consistent impartial service to the company.

ICSA is a professional body for company secretaries with 33,000 members worldwide. yBC were asked to put together a five minute video for them that summarised the key elements of this in depth business research report. yBC interviewed Andrew Kakabadse about his findings and produced the above video, which is now live on the ICSA website.
